Databases with sufficient facts allow you
to choose the most appropriate literature reference. Instead of printing
50 and more papers that collect dust, these databases help you to select
the one or two papers that are really relevant to your question. All the
database have links to the online journals, and provided you have a
license you can jump directly to the original paper. |

Sourcing and inventory applications.

Once you have made the decision what to
do you need a compound. The easiest would be, if you could grab it from
your desk, or from your neighbors lab, or from somewhere in the house,
or get it delivered from the stockroom! The MDL Sourcing application can
help you to find compounds easily. Obviously, the need to registered
easily into the system. On way is you swipe the bottle over a bar coded
reader and the system knows the new location of the bottle. Your scale
is also connected to a computer and the difference in weight will be
recorded if you take a sample. |

Directory (ACD) is the
choice for buying fine chemicals. ACD contains Aldrich, Fluka, and 700
more suppliers. You will also find the building blocks from AKos GmbH in
ACD.

AKos GmbH provides alone ca. 3
million compound. At the moment there are about 50 suppliers in SCD, and
the database is growing rapidly. |

databases can differ quite substantially if you start searching.
ChemInform is the best choice for
searching for group transformations. The underlying technology allows
you to make very sophisticated queries, for instance you can define an
aromatic bond. |
